Fungal Infections
Fungal infections result in thickened, yellow crusty nails. It is important to properly diagnose the cause as not all thick and yellow nails are fungus infections.
Nail Disorders
Nail disorders can be genetic or caused by internal disease. Kidney failure, cardiac disease, and genetic disorders (ex. Darier's disease or Ectodermal dysplasia) can cause nail changes.
Nail Pigment
Nail pigment or a dark area under the nail can be benign or cancerous. Brown streaks are common and they should be evaluated by a dermatologist. Look out for brown, dark or black moles in or around your nail and make sure to have it evaluated.
Ingrown Nails
A condition that occurs when the side of your nails begin to grow into the surrounding skin. It is very common on toenails, but it can also happen to your fingernails.
